Barbara was great with us from the beginning. Always had any information we needed and answered all of my 1000 questions with patience. The website she created for us to send our guests to was beautiful and very us! Our whole wedding was perfect, even when things went not according to plan (like they will for a big event) it all got handled quickly and the solutions were better than the thing I had originally planned, every time! It was very low stress, as far as wedding planning goes, and thats mostly thanks to Barbara!

DO – Choose the wedding experience the two of you want

  • Deciding to host a destination wedding is a personal decision based on the desires of only two people – you and your fiancé
  • Understand that you will never be able to please everyone
  • Accept that some people may not be able to attend due to time or finances

DON’T – Compromise on your vision or quality to please other people

  • This is perhaps the one time in life where you should get exactly what you are dreaming of – don’t let other people talk you into or out of your vision
  • While keeping guests costs in mind is important, don’t choose a location that will not deliver the experience you are envisioning
  • Remember, you don’t want to look back in 5 years and say “ I wish I had… ”

DO – Begin planning 12-18 months in advance if possible

  • Some resorts or destinations only hold one or two weddings a day – if a particular day of the week or date is important to you, you should reserve that as soon as possible
  • Contracting the rooms early usually allows us to obtain and lock in the best pricing available.
  • Sending out your Save the Dates early to your intended guests allows them to request that time off from work, put a deposit down on their room and budget the overall cost so it’s a much easier process.

DON’T – Let the process make you feel overwhelmed

  • Take a deep breath and know that you CAN have the wedding of your dreams
  • Make sure that you and your fiancé are on the same page
  • Work with an experienced Destination Wedding Specialist who will guide you through all of the decisions and the process. We will give you the tools and resources to stay organized and on track and will be with you every step of the way to answer all of your questions.
